About Me

Well, I am nearing my 100th post, so I supposed it's time that I added an About Me page.  In case you haven't noticed, I always have a lot to say, but how do you go about encapsulating your life in such a small space?  In the absence of any better ideas, I turn to that paragon of journalistic excellence, the Washington Post Date Lab.  Thank goodness, I will never be a candidate.  I will, however, appropriate some of their interview questions.

How you're DC:  I've lived here more than five years now, and have spent time in nearly every part of the city. DC is truly a unique place to live and I have enjoyed all of it, from the diverse people to the amazing ethnic restaurants.

How you're not DC: City driving makes me nuts.  Also, although I find politics interesting and important, I don't buy into the lifestyle that often seems to accompany it.

Worst date ever: Once, after homecoming, my date asked if I had a good time, and when I responded in the affirmative, he said, "Well, at least one of us did."

Interests to share: Reading, writing, reading about writing, writing about reading...
Also, I am an enthusiastic home cook and an amateur crafter.

Last book read: State of Wonder by Anne Patchett

Your type: Five foot six, blond hair, blue eyes...you know-like this guy.

Happiest when: Deeply involved in something I care about: playing with my kids, writing, conversing with my husband.  Out for a walk in the city or the woods. Or when I'm playing Zelda on the Wii

Desert Island DVDs: Remember the Titans, any season of 30 Rock

Dream date: Visiting a new ethnic restaurant, followed by a movie that has lots of previews, and a nightcap at a bar serving reasonable priced microbrews.

So, that's a little bit about me.  I'd tell you more, but then you'd have no reason to keep reading my blog.  So, carry on...

  1. I just stumbled upon your blog...it's nice to meet you! You and I live close, have little kids, both write reviews about DC-y things to do with kids, and both love 30 Rock. Nice. :)

  2. Hi Lisa,
Thank you for commenting on my blog, I really appreciate that! :)
I actually blog in three languages:
    German, Portuguese and English.
But I would really never say that loud, backside somehow I feel, that I actually don't. My native language is German, so I blog in German. But as I live in my husbands hometown Goiânia, which is in Brazil, I also write a bit in Portuguese, at the beginning of every post... And in English I also only write a little bit, because I really want everybody to understand at least a bit, when I am visited from foreign countries, and (to be honest) I always hope that one of those ladies wich inspire me, and wich are American, will visit me in return, someday, and leave a comment.... ;)

    Nice to meet you,
    Cheers from Brazil,
